geboren 1931, lebt in Köln in Deutschland als emeritierte Professorin für Soziologie an der Fachhochschule Köln. Sie hat fünf Jahre am Goethe Institut in Indien gearbeitet und über indische Frauen promoviert. Sie ist seit vielen Jahren aktiv in der Frauen-, Ökologie- und Dritte-Welt-Bewegung und hat zahlreiche Artikel und mehrere Bücher zu diesen Themenkomplexen veröffentlicht, u.a. "Patriarchat und Kapital" (1988), "Ökofeminismus" (1995; zus. mit Vandana Shiva), "Eine Kuh für Hillary: Die Subsistenzperspektive" (1997; zus. mit Veronika Bennholdt-Thomsen).
